Since its inception the Queensland Irish Association has provided facilities for and encouraged a variety of activities for members.

A Literacy and Debating Society, Hurling, Annual Balls, Snooker, Billiards, Euchre Tournaments, and river excursions were early examples.

Today members can choose from activities such as:

IRISH DANCING
Looking for a fun way to get fit without the pressure of competition?  Try an Adult Ceili Class at The Irish Club.  

Regular Irish Dancing Classes are held Monday nights from 6.00pm until 7.30pm.  Fees are charged for a 6 week term or on casual basis.

TARA Hall Dining Club

For some 25 years, the Tara Hall dining Club has been providing the members of the Queensland Irish Association with the opportunity to experience the finest wines and fare that the Irish Club has to offer. Our evenings are generally held on the third Tuesday of every month and are open to all members of the Queensland Irish Association. If you are interested in sampling different foods and wines in the company of like minded members, why not come along to one of our dinners.

TARA Singers
Tara Singers, the official choir of the Queensland Irish Association, was formed to perform at official functions and cultural events within the Association at Tara House, Brisbane, where it gives a regular concert series each year.

The choir has also taken part in community festivals throughout south-east Queensland and in New South Wales. In 2005 it hosted Queensland`s first Festival of Sea Songs, Shanties and Dance at the Queensland Maritime Museum and it has sung at Brisbane City Hall, Queensland Performing Arts Centre Concert Hall, historic Ormiston House, at functions for the Irish Ambassador to Australia and to welcome the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese.

Tara Singers choir is directed by its founder Patricia Kelly and is accompanied by pianist Patricia Devereaux. Rehearsals take place at Tara House each Monday at 6.45 pm. For details phone 3343 7938 or visit www.tarasingers.com
