St. Brigid’s Dinner 2012 St. Brigid’s Dinner 2012 will be held on Saturday 4th of February and is set to be a great night for members to celebrate the feast of St. Brigid. This annual Club event is a great start to the St. Patrick’s celebrations that follow each year. The Irish Club is delighted to announce this years guest speaker will be Mrs Lisa Newman.
Mrs Newman, a Mater Hospital trained nurse, managed a private surgical practice from the mid 1980's until 2004. Lisa is an active community member and is involved in the following organisations; Patron of the Lifestream Foundation and Starving Kids (Brisbane); the Queensland Patron of the National Breast Cancer Foundation; a committee member of the Adolescent Drug & Alcohol Withdrawal Service (ADAWS) and Life Education Australia Queensland (Brisbane); and Ambassador for Abused Child Trust and Arthritis Queensland. Most recently, Lisa was the Lady Mayoress for the City of Brisbane and Chairperson of the Lord Mayor's Community Trust from April 2004 until March 2011. Today, Lisa remains an Ambassador for the Lord Mayor's Community Trust. Lisa is also a busy mother of two daughters, and wife of Campbell Newman ( Former Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Current Leader of the LNP and Candidate for the State Seat of Ashgrove).
