St. Patrick's Concert

This year's St Patrick's Concert at the Club rooms on Sunday 7th March at 2pm, entitled "A Little Bit of Heaven Fell......".  The program includes such songs as Shure A Little Bit of Heaven Fell, The Garden where the Praties Grow, Spinning Wheel, The Wearing of the Green, Steal Away, The Minstrel Boy, Fields of Athenry, Galway Bay, Connemara Cradle Song, Where the River Shannon Flows and many many more from the Emerald Isle. Along with raffles and Irish jokes with our own James Donegan.

Look for the Tara Singers marching in the St Patrick's Parade with the Queensland Irish Pipe Band on the 13th March".

 

Tara Singers, the official choir of the Queensland Irish Association, was formed to perform at official functions and cultural events within the Association and in the community.

In addition to a regular concert series each year at Tara House, home of The Irish Club/Queensland Irish Association in Brisbane, Tara Singers has shared performances with other Brisbane choirs, including a three Choir Festival at Tara House, and has taken part in community festivals in Glen Innes NSW, at the Bungawarra Wine Festival, the Kalbar Heritage Festival and the Killarney Irish Festival.

The choir has sung in Christmas programs at Brisbane City Hall and the Queensland Performing Arts Centre Concert Hall, has entertained at Queen Street Mall during Irish Week, at the historic Ormiston House beside Moreton Bay, and performed at functions to welcome the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, and for the Irish Ambassador to Australia.
